Trey's Non-Profit Support
Trey has a long history of charitable giving. Following the trend set by Phish's WaterWheel Foundation, Trey formed the Seven Below Fund in 2005 and donated the proceeds of his concert at Higher Ground (4/01/2005) in South Burlington, VT to the Vermont Land Trust. Additionally, a percentage of the proceeds from his Spring Tour 2005 went to support non-profits working on the issue of homelessness in each city on that tour as well as Chittenden County, VT. And during the Fall Tour 2005, Trey supported non-commercial radio stations in each city of the six-week tour.
Since 2006, Trey has focused his philanthropic efforts on the Seven Below Arts Initiative, donating a portion of concert proceeds and full use of The Barn to the program. Seven Below is grounded in a partnership with Burlington City Arts (BCA), a relationship that began in 2001, when Trey created a series of prints to help BCA raise money to support the visual arts in Burlington. Limited edition lithographs were later made of the prints and sold to benefit BCA when Trey performed at Burlington's Memorial Auditorium as part of the annual Discover Jazz Festival. (These prints are also featured on the cover of Trey's most recent studio work, Bar 17 and the bonus album 18 Steps).
Beginning in 2006, The Barn was transformed from a commercial recording facility into a studio environment providing accommodations and work space for artists participating in the Seven Below residency program. Drawing from the talent and expertise of its resident artists, Seven Below is working with BCA to sponsor arts education activities for audiences of all ages.
